Buffalo, N.Y. – John G. Schmidt Jr., a partner with Phillips Lytle LLP, has been elected to the 100 Club of Buffalo, Inc. Board of Directors. The 100 Club is an independent, nonprofit, nonpolitical organization whose sole purpose is to provide service to the members of local law enforcement, fire and emergency medical service agencies and their families.
The 100 Club was established in 1957 to provide cash assistance to the families of police officers killed in the line of duty. In addition to the death benefit, the 100 Club provides scholarships, educational assistance and various awards to the members and families of the police, fire and emergency medical service agencies of Western New York.
At Phillips Lytle, Mr. Schmidt is the co-leader of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Team and serves on the boards of several civic organizations. He concentrates his practice in the areas of business disputes and commercial litigation, with a particular focus on employee disloyalty, workplace fraud, business torts and similar corporate disputes. He also practices in technology litigation, computer forensics, white collar/government investigations defense, and class action defense. Mr. Schmidt has extensive litigation experience in state and federal courts, and he has been appointed by several courts in complex corporate and personal disputes requiring receiverships, and to investigate and remediate fraud.
Mr. Schmidt graduated from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey School of Law (J.D., 1993) and from New York University (B.F.A., 1985).
