Phillips Lytle LLP Attorneys Participate in Series on Litigating Police & Prison Abuse Cases

Buffalo, N.Y. – Three Phillips Lytle LLP attorneys are partnering with the Minority Bar of Western New York (MBAWNY) to present a four-part CLE series titled “Litigating Police & Prison Abuse Cases.” It starts September 24, 2021 with an in-person event, followed by the four-part series held virtually via Zoom.

This program will bring several experienced litigators together to discuss best practices and common issues involved in handling cases related to prison and police abuse. It’s designed to help prepare attorneys who are interested in expanding their practices to represent people whose Fourth and Eighth Amendment rights have been violated.

The following Philips Lytle LLP attorneys are participating in the series:

  • Kenneth A. Manning, Partner at Phillips Lytle, focuses his practice in the areas of corporate and commercial litigation, including dissolution proceedings, employment termination disputes and controversies involving the sale of goods and services. Mr. Manning has extensive experience in prosecuting and defending class action in both the state and federal court system. He also concentrates in education law and is the co-leader of the Phillips Lytle Education Practice Team.
  • Erin C. Borek, Senior Associate at Phillips Lytle, concentrates her practice in civil litigation, while focusing on construction and commercial litigation matters, including breach of contract claims and commercial torts. Ms. Borek represents clients responding to government investigations as well as personal injury disputes and civil rights litigation. She also has experience arguing appeals in both federal and state courts.
  • Colin X. Fitzgerald, Associate at Phillips Lytle, concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, white collar criminal defense and government investigations. Mr. Fitzgerald is experienced in toxic tort defense, including asbestos and both jury and bench trials.
