The East Side Parkways Coalition, represented by Adam Walters, has filed a lawsuit against New York State in the hopes of stopping plans to cap a section of the expressway and convert it into a tunnel.
The suit also claims the expressway stands in violation of New York’s Green Amendment, which states everyone has a civil right to clean air, water and a healthful environmental. “It’s hard to do that with a highway running through your front year,” Walters said.
